My final project involves my attempt to create a device that I can wear which will help me to stop biting my nails. I have decided to go a route that involves a device I can wear, which will cause a small motor to vibrate when I touch my fingers to my mouth. I don't have the necessary materials with me at the time of this blog, so a drawing will have to do to get the point across...
I ended up choosing this method as opposed to a fidget or something because this takes a more active role in preventing me from biting my nails. A fidget can be easily ignored, but this would provide a constant reminder that I could not simply forget about. Some issues that have yet to be addressed are how I will make the circuit close when I touch my mouth. I don't have a whole lot of experience with circuits. I hope to be able to do this without having a bunch of wires attached to me, which would certainly not be practical. I am starting to be worried about the amount of progress I can reasonably make before the end of the semester. The most important things I want to keep in mind with this design is that my device needs to be discrete, and it most definitely needs to not have wires coming out every which way. Lacking the materials currently, I have only my imagination to use. My final goal for the semester is, at the very least, have a design that accomplishes my goal. I am fine with it not looking as good as I want the final product, I just want it to give me a solid idea of how best to proceed. I had no material to make a video on, sadly.
